On Location: Where was ‘The Woman King’ filmed?
We wished to shoot the motion picture in West Africa and at first we have been likely to shoot a part of the film there but logistically it was pretty demanding. We did mail a modest splinter unit to Ghana right after the principal creation wrapped. It felt essential to shoot one thing in West Africa.

As cinematographer, how did you want to capture the environment of the Agojie?
With the Agojie, we moved the digital camera fluidly and gracefully. It was also important to distinction the elegance of Dahomey with the ugliness of Quidah [a port and hub of the slave trade]. The horror of the trade in human lifestyle. Quidah we photographed with a handheld digicam and embraced the distinction of the African solar.
Throughout your off-several hours, how did you and the rest of the solid and crew invest your no cost time? Are there any spots—restaurants, bars, motels, museums, landmarks—that you loved?
We did not have a lot time off We filmed for 6 days a week and Gina and I would work jointly on the seventh day to get ready for the future week. Boschendal was unbelievable. At Beau Constantia, we experienced the finest meal of our lives. We experienced a very passionate evening absent from the young children at Tintswalo Atlantic, exactly where we ate at the Chef’s Warehouses and heard the waves crash towards our area immediately after an 8-program meal.
Every single weekend down by the V&A Foodstuff Sector, there is the Oranjezicht Farmer’s Market which is definitely extraordinary. We would take the children each Sunday morning and have breakfast and get community make.
